Prologue: Primordial Gundalia

Gundalia: A planet teeming with life in the Bakugan universe. While the planet's history has been briefly mentioned in the Bakugan Battle Brawlers stories, there is a deeper tale to be told. Allow me to share my own story as Sam Warrior, a former member of the Gundalia Vanguard. It all begins with the creation of Gundalia and the reasons behind its significance.

Legend has it that Gundalia was once a desolate wasteland, devoid of any form of life. In fact, it remained an unknown planet, inhabited solely by a few vegetal creatures known as Emphoros. These unique plants possessed the extraordinary ability to transform themselves into various living beings, even taking residence within other creatures. Emphoros could bolster the strength of their hosts, weaken them, or even alter their appearances. They were the primitive inhabitants of Gundalia, and life on the planet revolved around them.

Gundalia's climate was always scorching hot, making it a challenging environment for survival. Emphoros, being the only inhabitants, often resorted to consuming one another for sustenance. Some Emphoros evolved into resilient and invincible creatures, while others had to reproduce by dividing themselves. However, this way of life was unsustainable. Since there were no other beings on the planet, they needed to seek out other worlds to continue their existence. But how could they achieve this? As vegetal creatures, they lacked the means to travel beyond Gundalia. At the very least, other beings had to come to their planet so they could transform into them and assume new forms. That's when the Neathians arrived.

Certain weak and non-evolved Emphoros attempted to escape from their more powerful counterparts. Coincidentally, at that very moment, strange creatures fell from an unknown place. These were humans exiled from Neathia as a punishment. Unfortunately, some of them couldn't survive in Gundalia's harsh climate and fell victim to the weak Emphoros. Ingesting the flesh of these humans, some Emphoros evolved into stronger beings and joined the ranks of the evolved Emphoros. Meanwhile, the remaining Emphoros infiltrated the bodies of the surviving humans and fused with them, assuming new forms. These transformed Emphoros became known as Phobos.

The Phobos were the ancestors of the present Gundalia people. Resembling humans but with similarities to Emphoros in terms of color and structure, they were the first animal-like creatures to exist. Unlike their Emphoros predecessors, the Phobos couldn't merge with other beings, nor were they as physically formidable. However, the Phobos possessed superior intelligence, surpassing that of the Emphoros. As former Emphoros who had transformed into Phobos, they harnessed the knowledge and skills of the humans they had assimilated to enhance their chances of survival.

In their encounters with Emphoros, the Phobos discovered that these creatures could be consumed, rendering them no longer invincible. Hence, both species had to engage in a perpetual struggle for survival within the unforgiving climate of Gundalia. This war endured for fifty long years until the arrival of a new species on the planet: the Bakugans.

The scorching climate of Gundalia became the backdrop for a relentless war between the Phobos and Emphoros. For half a century, these two distinct species clashed in a struggle for dominance, each fighting for their own survival amidst the harsh conditions of their home planet.

The Phobos, descendants of the transformed Emphoros, utilized their acquired intelligence and human-derived skills to gain an upper hand in the conflict. They employed strategic thinking, forming alliances and devising elaborate battle plans to overcome their adversaries. Though physically inferior to the Emphoros, the Phobos compensated for their lack of strength with cunning tactics and resourcefulness.

On the other side, the Emphoros, once the ruling species of Gundalia, relied on their superior physical abilities and evolutionary prowess. Their resilience and invincibility made them formidable opponents. They possessed the remarkable capability to merge and transform, granting them an ever-changing advantage in combat. Despite their cannibalistic tendencies, the Emphoros found themselves facing a cunning and adaptable foe in the Phobos.

The war ravaged the lands of Gundalia, leaving scars upon the barren terrain. Skies filled with battles, as Phobos and Emphoros clashed in epic aerial duels. The clash of their distinct abilities and combat styles created a spectacle of intense warfare, where survival was the only objective.

As the conflict persisted, both species evolved in response to the demanding circumstances. The Phobos refined their skills, honing their intelligence and adaptability to become more effective fighters. Their transformation from Emphoros to Phobos had unlocked a potential that had been dormant for generations.

The Emphoros, too, underwent significant changes. Through relentless battles and consumption of fallen adversaries, they adapted and developed new forms. Some Emphoros became more efficient predators, enhancing their hunting abilities and evolving stronger defenses. Others explored their innate transformative capabilities, mastering their ability to merge and manipulate their forms, becoming even more formidable adversaries.

Throughout the war, the landscape of Gundalia bore witness to the ebb and flow of power. Territories shifted hands, alliances were forged and betrayed, and the struggle for dominance continued relentlessly. However, amidst the chaos and destruction, there was a growing realization among the combatants that this war could not be sustained indefinitely.

As the conflict reached its peak, a pivotal moment unfolded on Gundalia—a discovery that would forever change the course of the war. Deep within the heart of the planet, both Phobos and Emphoros stumbled upon ancient ruins, remnants of a forgotten civilization. Within these ruins lay powerful artifacts imbued with mysterious energy.



The Phobos and Emphoros, momentarily setting aside their differences, cautiously approached the artifacts. They discovered that these ancient relics held immense power, capable of bestowing incredible abilities upon those who wielded them. Sensing an opportunity to gain an edge over their adversaries, the Phobos and Emphoros engaged in a race to claim these artifacts, igniting a new chapter in their conflict.

The hunt for the artifacts became a key focus of the war. Skirmishes erupted around each discovered relic, with the Phobos and Emphoros fighting tooth and nail to secure these sources of power. In the hot world of Gundalia, where the Phobos and Emphoros had been locked in a relentless war for a long time, something unexpected took place. Strange creatures known as Bakugans suddenly appeared on Gundalia, arriving without any prior knowledge of our native species or the ongoing conflict.

These Bakugans emerged through swirling portals in the sky, and as they touched down on Gundalian soil, they had no idea about the existence of the Phobos, the Emphoros, or the challenging conditions of our planet. Their arrival was quiet and uneventful, and they began to establish their presence in different areas without attracting any attention.

Armed with their unique powers and abilities, the Bakugans started to explore the unfamiliar terrain of Gundalia. Without any awareness of the existing conflict, their primary focus was on adapting to their new environment and creating their own settlements. These settlements served as their safe and peaceful homes, far away from the turmoil that had plagued our planet.

The Phobos and Emphoros remained completely unaware of the Bakugans' presence. The Bakugans, in turn, had no knowledge of our native species and the ongoing war. This lack of awareness allowed the Bakugans to settle in discreetly, without any interference from the native inhabitants.

As the Bakugans continued to establish their homes on Gundalia, they remained isolated from the ongoing conflict and the ancient artifacts that the Phobos and Emphoros had discovered. Their presence on the planet had introduced an element of mystery, as they had yet to encounter the native species or become entangled in the struggles that had defined Gundalia for so long.

The future of Gundalia remained uncertain, as the Bakugans' arrival had brought an unknowing and unsuspecting element into the planet's complex dynamics. Without knowledge of each other's existence, the Phobos, Emphoros, and Bakugans coexisted on Gundalia, each pursuing their own interests and objectives, unaware of the potential changes that lay ahead
