If you are on this page, you're most likely a beginner that wants to know what they should be working towards, OR you are a brawler that has been on a massive losing streak and wish to change that but doesn't know how.
I want to put a quick disclaimer that just reading this guide won't make you the best brawler on site. There is a lot of hard work and skills you must develop over time, therefore there is NO fast lane.
With that said, let's move on to some advice and tips Grimm, Creation and I have agreed that a good brawler needs.
1) Bakupack Size
Everyone's Bakupack will be different, that is the best part about being you, no one should have a Bakupack like yours. But when starting out it can be hard to know what sort of things is good for starting off.
When starting off I personally recommend these things:
As your grow you will understand what you want to add to your Bakupack and be able to mold it in. A good brawler CAN make use of a small amount of cards, BUT have only 4 cards against a Bakupack of 40 cards, your never going to win unless really lucky.
2) Effect Combinations
This is likely one of the hardest parts as this is down to personal preference. For example, you have a green card. You could put in two green effects, one green and two blue or even 4 blue effects. What you do is up to you but consider if the effects you are putting in the same card, help each other or could potentially weigh you down.
Say you have a ghoul trigger card that is set up by a g-power swap happening, where then the one playing the swap is set to 0. That card CAN be trigger by you doing the G-Power swap, then YOU are the one at 0. If you have no way to gain power and you cannot play advantage, you have potentally lost the game. A more extreme example sure but it is something to consider.
3) Math, Effect Order & Links
I am sorry to say but if you cannot add together numbers in the thousands/ten hundreds, you won't get far with your brawling. There can be a lot of calculations between posts and failure to do that can result in strikes. The same can be said for Links, if you are playing a card or a Bakugan that has an effect, you MUST link it in the post it is brawled out or played. For this reason, I do NOT recommend brawling on mobile.
As for Effect Order, it is important to know, what kinds of effects would resolve first and what would come last as this order when wrong can HEAVILY affect the final totals. Some effects will always come first whether it has effects before it or not. If you can learn this order, it is likely you can use it to your advantage.
4) Organisation
What does organisation have to with brawling? Everything. In the middle of the brawl, you want to know what things do quickly. This way you can make your plan of action quickly and respond in the best way possible with the least resources without wasting counters. Therefore a nice tidy bakupack is essential.
You could organize it like Creation's Atom, Account: All cards split by their colour type, and for each card, you have the attribute emojis, the card name with a link and on the next line what it does.
Or you could take a page from ren's book: Separating cards by if they are normal abilities, specials, fusions or gates, and also thier Color. Then using the Attribute emojis before standing the card name with a link and saying what it does.
Do what is best for you but make sure it is quick and simple.
5) Attitude
The way you come into brawls and out of them makes a LOT of difference. If you are rude or get super upset or angry when don't things go your way, not only do you look like a child but you're not showing any understanding of what is happening in the game, nor can you begin to understand what went wrong.
If you are polite instead or at least a good sport. You can laugh off a loss and get back to the drawing board. That's great, you recognize that your opponent was just better at their strategy that game and understand, that somewhere you did something wrong. That is okay, we have to do something wrong to get better.
6) Strategy
This is one of the most important things to get better, have a strategy in place. Playing cards with no real strategy to it will only get you so far. Do you wish to control the field, control the attributes in play, or force your opponent into a corner? You need to know how you wish to play, then make cards around it.
Here is what Creation has to say on this topic:
Always have a good variety of abilities to help you toward the goal you want with your deck. To that end, figure out what you’re wanting to do with your deck and design it towards that goal. Wanting to go for high power to annihilate your opponents in one round? Better get the G-Power Boosting effects and figure out how to make them ramp up. Make sure you also have a good way of dealing with Advantage.
Wanting to use an Advantage-based build? See if you can’t come up with a way for you to manipulate your opponent into gaining lots of power. Control is a lot trickier with the negation restriction recently implemented. But, through the application of Prevention and Protection, limiting your opponent’s options is the key.
Just remember, we’re all here to have fun. So what if your strategy doesn’t work against someone? If you feel the need, try adding another option to your deck. You never know, it just might make you that much more powerful! There are hundreds of card combinations for creating them and thousands of different decks that can be made. There’s no limit to what you could make!
7) Know your Deck / Read Old Brawls
These two kinda go hand in hand. You need to go back and read your old brawls on site, and work out what you did wrong, what you could have done, and if you were in that situation with your deck now, what could you do that would be better? At the same time, you need to know your deck, to know how to defeat your deck. That way you know the weaknesses you have to watch out for and can work around them.
8) Custom Effects
You can create your own effects that can be put onto cards if they are approved and if they are you get a free copy! Creating custom effects can be tricky, but they can give you some edge and can be fun to play with.
Grimm has more important advice on this subject:
If you desire a special kind of effect to build your own unique and personal strategy around. Put in your effect on the idea thread, then let you, and the masses (even us admins.) Talk it out, balance it out. If we like it, we will add your effect to the effect list.
This game is built around being clever with what you get yourself. Then adding onto what you have.
More advice may be added over time, so keep an eye out for that.

- 2 Bakugan (Different attributes)
- 3 Gates (Have at least one be a different color)
- 10 other Cards (Normals, Specials and Fusions)
- Keep to blue/green cards
- Give yourself back up options
- Create combos, but make sure that if those combos are broken, your Bakupack isn;t broken as well.
